18-year-old woman abducted in Moncton home invasion

Codiac Regional RCMP are looking for a suspect in a home invasion and abduction of a woman that occurred in Moncton on Tuesday.

Victim has been located, search for suspect continues, RCMP say

An 18-year-old woman was abducted from a home in Moncton on Tuesday afternoon, say Codiac Regional RCMP.

The victim was located at about 8 p.m., following a search that extended to the Miramichi area and included a helicopter, said Const. Damien Thériault.

She had sustained minor physical injuries, he said.

The suspect, who is known to the victim, has been identified, but not yet arrested, said Thériault.

No names are being released.

Police were advised at about 4 p.m. that a man had broken into a house on McLaughlin Drive and taken a woman against her will, said Thériault.

"We were able to establish that both of them travelled to Miramichi and then returned to Moncton," he said.

Codiac Regional RCMP, other RCMP detachments, Miramichi Police and an RCMP helicopter were involved in the search, said Thériault.

The investigation is ongoing.
