16 firearms stolen from Campbellton home

Sixteen firearms have been stolen from a private collector's home in Campbellton.

RCMP seek help locating the shotguns and handguns that belong to a private collector

Campbellton RCMP are asking for the public's help after 16 firearms were stolen from a home in the city.

The shotguns and handguns belong to a private collector, said Cpl. Jeffrey Foster.

Someone broke into the collector's home on Beaumont Crescent some time between July 6 and July 9, he said.

"The complainants were away for approximately a 36-hour period.  When they came back, they found a number of guns to be stolen. They were locked in a compartment and that was broken into," Foster said.

Money and liquor were also taken.

Having stolen firearms in the community is worrisome, said Foster.

But the weapons should be easy to identify, he said.

"These are firearms that are very old and were collector's items basically. Not only members of the public, but shop owners, things of that nature, if they hear or see anything of this nature, we should be notified."

Anyone with information is asked to call Campbellton RCMP at 506-789-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
