What's open and closed on Canada Day

Friday is Canada Day, and in Quebec, it is moving day for thousands of people.

Public services are limited:

-The City of Montreal's offices are closed, including the courthouse.

-Call 311 or check the city's website for local services, including public pools, garbage collection and recycling.

-Public transit is running on holiday schedule, including the AMT, except for the Deux-Montagnes line — which will be completely closed July 1, 2, and 3 for construction work on the future east-end commuter train. Consult the AMT website for more details.

-Parking meters are in effect.

-Federal government offices and banks are closed.

-Major supermarkets are closed, but smaller stores will open, often for reduced hours.

-Retail stores may be closed.

-Some SAQ stores are open. Consult the SAQ's website for details.

-Public markets are open.

-There is no mail delivery on Friday.
