A water main break in Montreal's Plateau neighbourhood has left some residents without water this morning.

Large piles of mud and rocks covered part of the street when the water main broke early this morning, around 2:30 a.m.

At first city workers reduced the water pressure throughout the neighbourhood, but eventually they had to shut if off completely at about 7 a.m.

The city has closed de Lorimier Avenue between Mont-Royal Avenue East and Marie-Anne Street East so that work on the water main can be finished by 4:30 p.m. today.
