Montreal police say an 18-month-old who was being wheeled in a stroller is being treated in hospital for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Rivière-des-Prairies.

Montreal police said the accident happened Monday, at about 5:15 p.m., as the child and mother were crossing the intersection at Perras Boulevard and Elie-Beauregard Avenue in Montreal's northeast end.

The 56-year-old driver of the car that struck the baby stroller was treated for shock.

The child's mother was not hurt.
