Residents and taggers fight for their claim over the city
Behind the scenes in Montreal, tensions are mounting as residents and graffiti artists stake their claim over the city.
This week, CBC Montreal's Daybreak launched a series looking at graffiti tagging through the eyes of its supporters and its critics.
- Part 1 — Find out how Montrealers are fending off taggers
- Part 2 — Listen to graffiti writer Grams and his take on tagging
Follow along with CBC's Alison Northcott as she speaks with the residents and business owners going to new lengths to stop taggers from spray-painting their homes and businesses. She also spends the day with a prominent Montreal graffiti tagger, to hear his perspective.
Meanwhile, in the Plateau, the borough says it has increased fines ten-fold to try to stop tagging, but the problem persists.
