Train service back to normal this morning, VIA Rail says
Some VIA Rail passengers had to be put on buses to get around site of Wednesday's derailment in Smiths Falls, Ont.

VIA Rail said Thursday morning that train service was back to normal as of 8:30 a.m. Thursday following the derailment of a freight train in Smiths Falls, Ont., on Wednesday.
Five cars of a Canadian Pacific freight train derailed Wednesday just before 1:30 p.m. near the Smiths Falls train station, blocking the tracks in both directions.
Smiths Falls police were on the scene and two Transportation Safety Board investigators were also sent out, said Transportation Safety Board acting director Rob Johnston.
VIA said 10 passenger trains and some 800 passengers were affected by the delay Wednesday. While some trains were simply delayed by the collision, passengers on other trains had to be transferred to buses.
About a dozen buses were ordered to shuttle passengers.
The freight train was carrying one car holding dimethylcyclohexylamine, a fuel additive classified as corrosive and potentially flammable. But Johnston said the cars landed upright and intact, and pose no danger to the public.
There were no reported injuries.
In a tweet Thursday morning, VIA Rail said all affected passengers will be given credit for a future trip.
