A Montreal man has been sentenced to nine months in prison for charges related to carrying an explosive device during a student demonstration.
Denis-Marc Pelletier was arrested while taking part in a protest last month during the Parti Québecois' government's higher education summit in Montreal.
The 29-year-old man pleaded guilty to all charges under the Criminal Code, including inciting terrorist activities, uttering death threats, possession of explosive devices and possession of arson devices.
Since he was charged, Pelletier has been held in custody, in keeping with the Crown’s recommendation, based on the nature of the accusations against him.
Police said Pelletier had two Molotov cocktails with him when he was arrested.
In a message written on his Facebook, Pelletier had made reference to "terrorism 2.0."
