At least two Quebec families have an extra special reason to celebrate the New Year.
Two babies — one in Montreal and one in Quebec City — were born minutes apart on Jan. 1, just after midnight.
Mathilde, the province's first baby of 2013, was born at 10 seconds after midnight today.
The newborn and her parents rang in the New Year at the University of Laval Hospital (CHUL) in Quebec City. According to a press release from the hospital, the mother and her baby are both in good health.
She is the second child of Mélissa Pilote and Emmanuel Gravel, who live in Baie St-Paul, Que.
In Montreal, St. Mary's hospital announced its first baby of the year was born at 12:14 a.m.
