Highway 20 accident leaves one dead

A major accident has led to the closure of Highway 20 eastbound, near Coteau-du-Lac, Que. (CBC)
Police have confirmed that an accident this morning left one man dead.
The major accident led to the closure of Highway 20 eastbound, near Coteau-du-Lac, Que. The highway has now re-opened.
The driver of a transport truck, 33, died after being trapped inside his vehicle. Firefighters worked this morning to try to get him out.
At about 4:30 a.m. this morning, the truck drove up behind a crew of workers removing construction cones from Highway 20, according to Sûreté du Québec spokesman Grégory Gomez Del Prado.
The crews were in the process of removing the cones in order to open the second lane when, for reasons yet unknown, the truck hit a vehicle that was protecting the workers, he said.
Police reported that none of the highway workers was seriously injured.
