Police investigation leads to arrest and seizure of 55,000 doses of date rape drug

Police forces have dismantled a drug lab in Longueuil.
Authorities discovered the laboratory on Oct. 13 in a residence on Boulevard Béliveau, in the borough of Vieux-Longueuil.
It's alleged the operation was producing GHB — an illegal intoxicant and a drug sometimes used for date rape.
The investigation was led by members of a regional squad dealing with street gangs in Quebec's Montérégie region, along with a Sûreté du Québec team and the Longueuil Police Service.
Officers seized over 55 litres of GHB, equivalent to as many as 55,000 doses on the street. Police also seized several litres of the ingredients used to make the drug, in addition to a vehicle, computer equipment, an electronic scale and about $18,000.
Forces began the investigation a few weeks after receiving a tip from the public, which led to the closure of a key GHB manufacturer, one that had been active for several years.
Michel Junior Vincent, 37, has been charged with possession and production of GHB.
