Lévis police suspended pending sexual assault charges

A police officer in Lévis was suspended without pay pending sexual assault charges. (Stock)
A police officer in Lévis, on Quebec's south shore, was suspended without pay because of sexual assault allegations.
Lévis police made this decision after an investigation by the provincial police was completed.
The officer's identity has not been released, but officials say he was employed as a police officer for seven years.
Details on the allegations were withheld pending a formal accusation.
The man was released until his court date in November.
This is not the first time the Lévis police find themselves in hot water. In September 2010, chief Jean-François Roy was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently removed from his position.
A test showed that Roy was driving with twice the legal alcohol limit permitted by law.
