Police investigate the collision of a cyclist and a heavy truck that left the biker in critical condition.
A cyclist has died of his injuries, after he was struck by a truck at the corner of Christophe-Colomb Ave. and Mistral St. in Montreal's Villeray district at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday.
Montreal police said both the cyclist and the driver of the heavy truck had a green light.
Constable Yannick Ouimet said the truck struck the cyclist as the driver made a right turn.
"Obviously the biker had the right of way, and he was heading straight ahead on Christophe Colomb," Ouimet said. "The driver of the truck...should have given him the right of way."
"The driver says he never saw the cyclist," Ouimet added.
Montreal police collision investigators remained on the scene Tuesday morning to try to piece together the details of the accident.
