Quebecers celebrated the province's Fête nationale on Sunday.
Tens of thousands of people lined Sherbrooke Street in Montreal for the city's annual St-Jean Baptiste Day parade.
The event drew a large crowd of people, many waving the province's white and blue flag as the procession of giant puppets depicting famous Quebecers passed by.
Two new giants were added to the parade this year — union activist Michel Chartrand and actress Denise Pelletier.
Given the good weather, organizers expected as many as 100,000 people would line the street for the procession.
The parade started at Parc Baldwin at the corner of Fullum Street and wound up at Parc Maisonneuve for a free concert Sunday night.
A Fête nationale party in Bois-de-Filion, north of Montreal, ended on a sour note when hundreds of people reportedly refused to leave the site.
When police moved in to disperse the crowd some people threw bottles and rocks. More than 20 people were arrested and two officers were hurt during the clash.
In Quebec City, a man was sent to hospital with critical head injuries after a Saturday night St-Jean party fight.
Police say the fight took place outside 250 Grande Allée West, around 4 a.m. Authorities say they're trying to track down eye witnesses.
Quebec City police say they arrested 26 people during Fête nationale parties.
