A 39-year-old Gatineau man drowned after he slipped into the water in Notre-Dame-de-Pontmain Saturday evening.
Investigators believe Martin Larivée was trying to move between canoes on a river in the area, located about 100 km north of Gatineau.
But the man lost his footing, hit his head and slipped under the water. Witnesses said alcohol might have been a factor.
The man's body was recovered Sunday.
