The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume Tour Eiffel brand Parisian Cooked Ham because it may be contaminated with dangerous bacteria or parasites.

The ham was sold from deli counters at certain Sobeys stores, including IGA and IGA extra, and Metro stores, including Marché Richelieu. It was also sold in certain independent grocers and delicatessens in Quebec between Feb. 10 and 21.

The agency warned that some deli packages might not be labelled. If the date or brand can't be determined, the CFIA recommends that consumers check with the store.

Though there have been no reported illnesses, the agency warned that symptoms could include vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, headache and body ache. In rare cases, chronic, severe, or even life-threatening symptoms may occur.

The manufacturer, Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel of Blainville, Que., is voluntarily recalling the ham.
