A 27-year-old woman has been found guilty in the murder of Quebec farmer who was found dismembered in a motel room in 2010.
Rémy Allaire (Radio-Canada) On Thursday, the jury in Vanessa Tremblay's murder trial found her guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of blueberry farmer Rémy Allaire, 65. She received an automatic life sentence with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
Radio-Canada reported that Tremblay showed no reaction as the verdict was read.
Evidence presented at the Victoriaville trial showed that Allaire had been beaten and stabbed before his body was moved to a motel in Plessisville, Que. where it was later discovered.
Another man charged in the murder, Patrick Lavoie, will go on trial later this spring.
Vanessa Tremblay (Radio-Canada) Throughout the trial, Tremblay maintained that she had been under the control of Lavoie and had been working for him at an escort agency.
The trial began on Jan. 4, and nearly 30 witnesses were called to testify.
