A 39-year-old man was stabbed in the back several times during a home invasion in Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie.

Montreal police said three suspects forced their way into an apartment near the intersection of Jean-Talon Street and Saint-Dominique at around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Const. Yannick Ouimet said the suspects tied up a man inside and beat him before scouring the apartment for money.

“At this time, [there is] no precision on whether or not they have found the money but, on their way out, one of the suspects stabbed the victim in the back several times before they actually fled,” he said.

The victim freed himself and went to a neighbour’s apartment for help.

He was listed in serious but stable condition in hospital Thursday morning.

Police don’t have a full description of the suspects and are hoping to speak to the victim once his condition improves.

Ouimet said the victim was not known to police.
