A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the 2010 slaying of a mine guard.

The victim, Roland Hardy, 51, was on duty at the Normandie mine in Saint-Joseph-de-Coleraine on the evening of July 23.

Investigators believe Hardy surprised thieves looking to steal copper from the mine.

He was found beaten near his vehicle.

Provincial police made an appeal to the public for information on Hardy’s death in January.

On Wednesday, investigators announced they had made an arrest.

The suspect, a Drummondville resident, will appear in court Thursday.
