Quebec provincial police began carrying out several raids targeting fraud in Quebec's construction industry Wednesday morning.
The majority of the operation, which was carried out by about 150 police officers from the Sûreté du Québec, centred on Montreal's North Shore. Targets included locations in Broisbriand, Que. and Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, Que.
Police said they were working with officials from Revenue Québec to target a network of people suspected of filing improper financial records.
Police have also arrested six people at a Longueuil, Que. financial institution in connection with a $370,000 fraud.
Police said the arrests were the result of an investigation that began in January 2010.
The operation is not a part of Opération Marteau, French for Operation Hammer, a special police squad created to investigate allegations of corruption in the construction industry.
