A Montreal teenager has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 19-year-old man in St-Léonard over the weekend.
18-year-old Aldo Franchini appeared in court Monday.
He was charged in the death of Alejandro Chonta Rojas, who died in hospital after he was stabbed in a parking lot near Jean Talon Street and Viau Boulevard on July 22.
Police said four men got into an arguement before the stabbing occurred.
Another man was also stabbed but was not seriously injured.
Police would not say if the incident was gang-related, however they said the victim and the accused are known to police.
Neighbours in the area said the incident is unsettling.
"For sure it's alarming because this is a quiet neighbourhood," said Sadia Khyar. "There's normally no violence."
But Fatima Errtam, who has lived in the neigbourhood for 18 years, said she is worried local teens are getting involved with gangs.
"I advise all mothers to watch their kids," she said. "Where they're going, especially around 12, 13-years-old, because that's when it starts."
Franchini is expected to appear in court again on Aug. 14.
