Fifty-eight-year-old Alberto Manuel Martinez was charged with second-degree murder Thursday in the stabbing death of a 64-year-old Montrealer.
Yogarajah Sutharam was stabbed to death outside a store on Victoria avenue in Côte-des-Neiges at about 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
"The victim...was rushed to hospital in serious condition but he passed away not too long after he arrived at the hospital," said police spokesperson André Leclerc.
He said two men were arguing on the terrace, between a restaurant and a convenience store, when one man stabbed the other.
Investigators have been going door-to-door to gather more information.
Leclerc said the death is the city's 19th homicide of 2011.
