A 20-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in the trunk of a car in Drummondville.
Kevin St-Sauveur appeared in a Drummondville court Friday afternoon to face the formal charges.
He is accused of killing Alexandra Duguay, 22, originally from Montreal.
Duguay's remains were found in an advanced state of decomposition Thursday afternoon in a car parked behind an apartment building in Drummondville, a mid-size city between Montreal and Quebec City.
Residents alerted police to the car after noticing a foul stench emanating from the vehicle.
Duguay was reported missing on on June 29th from Alma, in the Saguenay region.
She was working as a stripper at the Alma Casino bar.
St-Sauveur will remain in custody until September 16, when he is due back in court.
Duguay's body was sent from Drummondville to a laboratory in Montreal for an autopsy.
Drummondville is about 100 kilometres east of Montreal.
