Former California governor and Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is coming to Canada for a cross-country speaking tour in January. (Canadian Press) Former California governor and Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is coming to Canada for a cross-country speaking tour which will include stops in Calgary and Winnipeg on Jan. 25, Toronto on Jan. 26 and Montreal the next day.
The tour represents Schwarzenegger's first formal public speaking engagements since he completed his term as governor on Monday.
The "Governator" will be in Montreal on Jan. 27 to give a speech before the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
A Wednesday press release states "the governor will talk to the Montreal business community about his career in politics, movies and bodybuilding."
It describes the 38th governor of California as a man of many accomplishments which "include sweeping political reforms, historic investments in California's crumbling infrastructure, and the most comprehensive greenhouse gas policy in the world."
President and CEO of the Montreal board of trade, Michel Leblanc, writes "from his experience in American politics to his efforts combating climate change, Schwarzenegger incarnates openness to change and the boldness of innovative solutions."
His Montreal speech is entitled "Will innovation and green technologies save the global economy?" and tickets range from $275 to $1,500.
Born in Austria, Schwarzenegger pursued his bodybuilding career in Southern California eventually retiring with seven Mr. Olympia titles and a Mr. Universe championship.
After building an international acting career as an action hero, Schwarzenegger ran for Governor of California in a special recall election and won in 2003. He was re-elected in November 2006.
