(CBC) Former Quebec soccer coach Thierry Massimo has received a six-year sentence for sexually assaulting some of his young players.

Massimo, 42, pleaded guilty earlier this year to three charges of sexual touching and 23 charges of sexual luring.

A Longueuil court heard Friday that Massimo's 14 victims were between the ages of 12 and 14. They played on his team in the Richelieu Valley between 2001 and 2009.

Earlier reports indicated that there were 15 victims, however the number was clarified Friday.

Parents who came to the courthouse to hear the sentence said they were pleased that Massimo received close to the maximum sentence allowed under the law.

Massimo will get credit for time served, and he will spend just under four years behind bars.
