Jaggi Singh turned himself in to police following the G20 protest. (Timothy Neesam/CBC) Well-known Montreal-based protester Jaggi Singh has turned himself in to Toronto police following the recent G20 protests.
Singh was the subject of an arrest warrant, according to a statement released Tuesday by immigrant rights group No One is Illegal Montreal.
The group said Singh is expected to face charges including criminal conspiracy.
In the statement, the group accused police of targeting Singh, who has made headlines for more than a decade because of his devotion to causes including anti-capitalism.
He was notably arrested during the 2001 Summit of the Americas in Quebec City and faced weapons charges relating to a mock catapult that launched teddy bears.
More than 900 people were arrested during protests outside the June 26-27 G20 meeting in Toronto during which shop windows were smashed and some police cars torched.
Some demonstrators have accused police of human rights violations.
