A Quebec man who turned himself into police after a deadly bus terminal stabbing will face formal charges on Monday.

The 19-year-old man turned himself into Quebec City authorities Sunday night, a few hours after a teen was stabbed to death.

Authorities say a 17-year-old was riding a bus Sunday afternoon when he began to argue with another young person on board.

Both men got off the bus at the Les Saules terminal in the north end of the city, and continued to argue, according to eyewitnesses.

That's when the suspect stabbed the teenager in the chest, causing the victim to "stagger back and collapse," said Const. Jean-Sébastien Roy.

The victim was taken to hospital, unconscious, where he died a few hours later.

Eyewitnesses told police the attacker fled the scene on foot.

Police investigators later found a weapon they believe was used in the attack, stashed behind the bus terminal.

They say the two men did not know each other and it's unclear what started their argument.
