Lucille Pacaud pushes a trolley filled with gift shop goodies Wednesday at Montreal General Hospital. (CBC)A 102-year-old Montreal woman has been named volunteer of the year at the city's largest English teaching hospital.
Lucille Pacaud has been volunteering on a weekly basis at the Montreal General Hospital since 1983.
The McGill University Health Centre bestowed the honour on Pacaud this week.
The sprightly centenarian spends every Wednesday at the hospital from 9 a.m. onwards, pushing a trolley filled with goodies from the gift shop.
Pacaud and her "Lou-mobile" visit shut-ins confined to their hospital rooms, spreading smiles and good cheer.
Pacaud said her attitude to life may explain why she still enjoys her Wednesdays at the hospital.
"If it's pouring rain, well, you just say, the sun's gonna come out, you know, and so that was my attitude all the time," she told CBC News.
"I just love working, and I love working here."
