Montreal police say a report of an attempted kidnapping Monday on the West Island was a false alarm.
A 13-year old boy claimed a man approached him just after noon when he was on his way to school in the Montreal suburb of Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
But after meeting with the boy, investigators said there was no evidence a crime was committed, said Const. André Leclerc.
Police have asked the public to remain vigilant following two alleged attempted abductions in the West Island over a two-week period.
On Wednesday, a 13-year old girl said she was able to escape after a man tried to grab her near the corner of Duke-of-Kent and Westbank in Pointe-Claire.
The girl was a student at Félix-Leclerc High School.
On Oct. 7, a 12-year old Pointe-Claire boy said he narrowly escaped an older man's grip shortly after he got off his school bus on St-Louis Avenue at the corner of Marsh.
The boy was a student at St. Thomas High School in Pointe-Claire, which is adjacent to Félix-Leclerc.
In both cases, the suspected abductor was described as being in his 40s or 50s and riding in a rusty red minivan.
Police said they still have no leads in those cases but are taking them seriously.
