The annual global event was born in Europe a decade ago as a way to reduce air pollution.
Montreal is one of some 1,500 cities around the world to take part in the event.

Ste-Catherine Street between Jeanne Mance Street and St-Urbain Street is also closed all day.
Activities are being held all day on the closed-off streets, including inline skating, skateboarding and a free outdoor concert at noon in Phillips Square.
It's the seventh year Montreal has taken part in Car Free Day.
Toronto was the first Canadian city to join the global event.
