A father and daughter were found dead in this Brossard hotel on Sunday. (CBC) Police in the Montreal suburb of Longueuil say they hope autopsies will help determine the cause of death of a father and daughter whose bodies were found in a hotel room Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Montrealer Albert Pelchat, 46, and his daughter, Daphnée Pelchat, 6, of St-Hubert, a borough of Longueuil on Montreal's South Shore.
The body of Albert Pelchat was found around 1 pm Sunday at a Best Western Hotel in Brossard south of Longueuil. The grisly discovery was made by a maid during her daily rounds.
Emergency officials who arrived on the scene shortly after discovered the girl's body. Police did not say where it was found.
Police said Albert Pelchat hadn't been seen since he checked into the hotel on Friday.
Investigators are calling the deaths "suspicious."
"There were no visible traces of violence on the bodies, so it's really the autopsy that is going to tell us what happened in that hotel room," said Longueuil police Const. Gaétan Durocher.
Police said investigators have contacted the family of the victims to get more information amid reports Albert Pelchat had been separated from his wife.
The young girl had apparently been living with her mother and saw her father on weekends.
