Roy, 21, died in a traffic accident while responding to a call on Monday, Sept. 7.
Officers from across the country filed into Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola Church in Quebec City's Beauport district following a 40-minute long funeral procession.
The officer's uncle Pierre Roy said family members were extremely touched by the presence of police officers from across the country.
Lévis police officer Mélanie Roy was killed in an accident Sept. 7 Lévis Police Chief Jean-François Roy recalled the young officer's joie de vivre, and radiant smile.
"[Her death] makes you think," said Valérie Lesage, who attended Quebec's national police academy with Roy.
"I'm going to live life to the fullest," Lesage said in French.
Roy had only been a member of the police force for three months when she lost control of her police cruiser, slamming into a concrete pillar supporting an overpass near Saint-Nicholas, South of Quebec City.
