Five people were hospitalized after being struck by lightning in two separate incidents Tuesday at the same campground in the Laurentians, police said.
The five were taken to Ste-Agathe des Monts Hospital about 35 kilometres southeast of the Montagne-d'Argent campground at La Conception, just north of Mont Tremblant.
None of their injuries was considered life-threatening.
"Two of them are young ladies that worked at the camping site, in the booth. They were with a client at the time the lightning struck. The three of them were lightly injured, and brought to Ste-Agathe hospital," said provincial police Sgt. Chantal Mackels.
"At the same time, at the same camping site, a woman who was sitting down under the awning of her camper truck was also hit by lightning."
She was more seriously injured, and was taken to the Ste-Agathe hospital, Mackels said.
She said the woman's husband was also slightly injured and taken to hospital.
The same thunderstorm also knocked out power at the Ste-Agathe hospital, which has a very small emergency room.
