Montreal police arrested a man suspected of being the driver in a car-surfing stunt that left another man in critical condition in hospital on Monday.
The incident happened early Monday morning when a man was standing on the roof of an SUV at a red light on St-Jean Boulevard near the corner of Ernest Street, in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
Police said the man fell off the roof when the light turned green and the vehicle started moving.
“The suspect has been arrested, a 33-year-old man who will be facing charges [Tuesday] of criminal negligence, hit and run causing injuries, and also dangerous driving causing injuries. As for the victim, a 37-year-old man is still considered in a critical condition in hospital,” said Montreal police spokeswoman, Anie Lemieux.
Investigators arrested the suspect Monday afternoon.
Lemieux said the victim's wife called during the day to report him missing and police connected him to the car-surfing incident. Lemieux confirmed it was the victim’s vehicle that was used in the incident.
