Human remains found last week in a sandpit in northern New York State are those of a Canadian woman who disappeared four years ago, U.S. authorities confirmed Tuesday.

Forensic experts in Franklin County used dental records to identify the remains of Nathalie Fournier, a Quebec woman who disappeared in October 2004, said New York State police Capt. Robert Lafountain.

Authorities also found articles of clothing in the Malone, N.Y., sandpit.

State police said they were led to the sandpit by Adam Morris, a 30-year-old Malone trucker in custody on unrelated child pornography charges.

Police said Morris told them he was with Fournier the night of her disappearance, after meeting her at a roadside strip club in Quebec where she had been working as a dancer.

Fournier was last seen in October 2004 at the club in St-Mathieu, on Montreal's South Shore.

A Canadian arrest warrant for Morris on a second-degree murder charge was issued Friday by Quebec Crown prosecutor Joëlle St-Germain in Longueuil, the jurisdiction where the crime was allegedly committed.

The district attorney's office in Franklin County said it was advised of the warrant and is expecting an extradition request from Canadian authorities.

Morris is already in custody without bail on the child pornography charges. He returns to court Thursday for a preliminary hearing in that case.

Police tracked him down while investigating an internet file-sharing network that allegedly involved pornographic images of children.
