Several Quebec towns are on flood watch this week because of heavy rain. (CBC )Heavy rain in Quebec has renewed concerns about landslides and flooding.
Mudslides forced about 100 people from their homes in the Charlevoix region near Quebec City on Tuesday, where a 30-metre high clay wall collapsed behind three residences in La Malbaie.
Public security officials and the transportation ministry are investigating the slide, which they believe was triggered by heavy precipitation.
Officials in the towns of Petite-Rivière-St-Francois and Les Éboulements, near Quebec City, have issued voluntary evacuation notices for more than 50 homes.
Civil security officials are also keeping a close eye on rivers in the Lower Laurentians, the Townships and the Montérégie region.
Last week, more than 450 people along the Rivière-du-Nord and Lake of Two Mountains were forced to leave their homes because of flooding.
About one-third of those people have returned to their houses, but it's expected that rain this week will provoke another round of evacuations.
