About 1,000 students rallied in the rain Thursday in downtown Montreal to protest against Quebec's decision to lift a long-standing freeze on tuition fees.
The protest capped three days of student strikes in Quebec.
College and university students walked out of classes this week to fight a $50 per semester tuition increase that came into effect this fall.
Striking students are also demanding the province invest more money in post-secondary education and consider making university free.
Students travelled from Sherbrooke, Que., and Quebec City to join the Montreal protest.
About 60,000 students across Quebec voted in favour of the strike.
Earlier this week more than 100 striking students barricaded inside the CÉGEP Vieux-Montréal were arrested after they refused to leave the premises.
Student groups complained about police brutality.
Montreal police said students broke windows and sprayed the downtown college's hallways with paint.
