A man suspected of attempting to drown his wife in a swamp in Quebec’s Eastern Townships may now face murder charges after she died in hospital on Sunday.
Provincial police said there was apparently a violent confrontation inside the couple’s house in Waterloo on Saturday morning.
Investigators said Nathalie Dupont, 30, broke through a screen door and dashed across the road to a nearby marsh, where she nearly drowned.
She was taken to hospital in critical condition where she died early Sunday.
Her husband was arrested in nearby woods. He is to appear in a Granby court on Monday.
