A 23-year-old Montreal man has been charged with uttering threats and inciting hatred after police discovered a YouTube video full of anti-francophone messages.

Ryan Smale, a Lasalle resident, was released on bail pending trial after his arrest on May 18.

Police said they received a tip about the video, which featured a picture of a swastika decorated with Quebec's official flower, the fleur-de-lis.

A man's voice is heard on the video complaining that he can't find a job because he doesn't speak French.

The man allegedly says he's not sure whether he'll find a job first or a gun.

The video is no longer available online.

Investigators seized three computers and a prohibited weapon from the suspect's house in Montreal's west end, said police spokesman Raphael Bergeron.
