Basile Parasiris, the man accused of killing Laval police Const. Daniel Tessier during a drug raid in March, faces eight new charges related to weapons possession.

The new charges laid against Parasiris, 41, during a Monday hearing at the Quebec courthouse in Longueuil, on Montreal's south shore, include illegal storage of weapons and owning firearms without a permit.

The charges relate to four firearms seized at Parasiris's Brossard home, where Tessier was killed March 2 during an early morning drug raid.

Parasiris was arrested after the raid, which capped an 11-month investigation into an alleged cocaine ring that operated on the south shore and in Laval, north of Montreal.

He was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. Tessier's partner, Stephane Forbes, was also shot during the incident.

Parasiris will be back in court Friday to seek bail.
