STM buses may now travel on Highway 40 shoulders
Preferential measure will benefit users of buses 72, 220, 470 and 475 during heavy traffic
Starting today, STM buses will be able to use the shoulders of Highway 40 in both directions between Cavendish Boulevard in Saint-Laurent and Saint-Charles Boulevard in Kirkland whenever heavy traffic warrants it.
The preferential measure will benefit users of STM bus routes 72, 220, 470 and 475 lines and will be in effect during periods of heavy traffic when vehicles are moving at less than 50 km/h.
Unauthorized buses, taxis and car-poolers are not allowed to travel on the highway shoulder.
The following routes will benefit from the new measure:
- 72 Alfred-Nobel
Between Cavendish Boulevard and the Côte-Vertu interchange
- 220 Kieran
Between Cavendish Boulevard and Henri-Bourassa Boulevard
- 470 Express Pierrefonds
Between the Côte-Vertu interchange and Saint-Jean Boulevard
- 475 Express Dollard- des-Ormeaux
Between the Côte-Vertu interchange and Sources Boulevard
Between Sources and Cavendish boulevards (eastbound only)
