St-Leonard suspect in custody after violent rampage
One women stabbed, four people beaten, home broken into before suspect tracked down and arrested
Montreal police have a man in custody after an early morning string of violent attacks in St-Leonard saw one women stabbed, four people beaten and an elderly couple left shaken when their apartment was broken into.
Montreal police say they received a 911 call around 4:30 a.m. about the stabbings at an apartment block at the intersection of Cannes and Jean-Talon East Streets in St-Leonard.
They arrived on the scene to find a woman in her 50s suffering from a serious stab wound to her neck and another who had been physically assaulted.
Police say they fear for the life of the woman who had been stabbed.
The suspect then fled on foot and is believed to have assaulted a garbage truck driver, a bus driver and pedestrian before he broke into an elderly couple's apartment.
A police dog team tracked the suspect to the apartment, where he was arrested and taken into custody around 6 a.m.
