People commuting between Montreal and the South Shore this weekend may face traffic delays and detours due to repairs on the Mercier Bridge this weekend.

The bridge's southbound lanes will be closed on Saturday from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET.

“The section of the slab targeted in this repair work will eventually be completely replaced as part of the bridge’s roadway rehabilitation program,” the bridge corporation said on its website.

The two lanes into Montreal will remain open on Saturday.

Drivers are encouraged to use the Champlain, Victoria or Jacques Cartier bridges instead.
