Sherbrooke to host 2013 Canada Games
The city of Sherbrooke will host the 2013 Canada Summer Games.
Organizers announced Tuesday the Eastern Townships city will host the biannual event.
It's the first time the event will be held in Quebec.
Mayor Jean Perrault calls it a "beautiful gift."
"I'll get involved in the Games, for sure, because I think it's worthwhile to host all these kids coming [from] across the country in Sherbrooke — and [watch them] achieve their goals," he said Tuesday.
More than 3,400 young Canadian athletes are expected to take part in the event, which includes 17 different sports.
Organizers say the Canada Summer Games can generate between $80 million and $100 million for host cities.
