Quebec firefighters rescue injured crane operator
A construction worker is in hospital after firefighters rescued him from a crane at the site of a condominium project near downtown Montreal.
Urgences-Santé said the 44-year-old man appeared to lose his balance while trying to get into his operating box, and fell and landed about five metres down the crane.
The worker has lacerations on the back of his head and injuries to his arm, but was conscious and alert.
A special team of firefighters climbed up the about 33-metre-high crane to put him in a stretcher before bringing him down to paramedics.
Quebec's workplace health and safety board will investigate the incident.
The condominium project on Greene Avenue near de Maisonneuve Boulevard in Westmount is at the site of the old 5 Saisons grocery store.
