A school board in Lévis, Que., has fired a high school secretary who appeared in pornographic videos on the internet.

The head of Des Navigateurs School Board announced the decision Thursday after a closed door vote of school board commissioners.

Samantha Ardente was suspended last month from Les Etchemins High School after the officials discovered she had appeared in videos on an adult website.

The videos, which included titles such as Serial Abusers 2, were discovered by students. A police liaison officer who overheard students talking about the discovery alerted officials.

Board chair Leopold Castonguay said the woman's actions were in violation of the school's mission and values.

He said school officials offered to transfer Ardente to another position, but she refused.

As a result, he said, they had no choice but to fire her.

"We considered the facts and actions that led to this incident were inappropriate, unacceptable and incompatible not only with our mission but also with our values that we wish to teach our young students," Castonguay told reporters after the meeting.

Police said the woman committed no criminal acts.

Ardente had worked at the school for two years.

In an interview with TVA, a French-language network, Ardente said she agreed to stop doing pornographic films after her secret life was exposed.

However, she said she could not agree to unspecified conditions put forward by the board.

She said her union will likely contest the decision.

Ardente also told the network that she has been approached by the Tonight Show with Jay Leno for an interview.

It is not known if she will make an appearance on the program.
