Montreal police are investigating the city's 29th homicide of the year after a man's body was found Wednesday morning in the borough of LaSalle.

The body was found by a group of workers near a tree in a vacant lot at the corner of Lafleur Avenue and Jean-Milot Street around 11:20 a.m.

Police said the body bore marks of violence.

Police said it was too soon to say whether the discovery is related to the disappearance of a 64-year-old cab driver Sunday night.

Officials said the identity of the victim had not been confirmed.

Mohammed Nehar-Belaid was last seen leaving his home in Montreal's St-Laurent borough.He never came home after his overnight shift, his family told police.
