A 28-year-old woman was found safe after getting lost while hiking in a Quebec park.

Police found Leila Faris Monday afternoon after she went missing Sunday in Mont-Mégantic National Park, about 80 kilometres east of Sherbrooke.

She was hiking with friends on Sunday when she left to change her damp clothes. On her way, Faris slipped on ice, fell down a hill and twisted her ankle.

Since she wasn't able to climb up the hill, Faris decided to follow another marked trail, but she eventually got lost.

Faris decided to sleep outside for the night. She said her friends were probably more worried than she was.

While she heard animals around her during the night, Faris said they didn't seem to be dangerous.

She said the experience was not all bad, adding she enjoyed gazing at the stars and watching the sunrise on Monday morning.
