Police in Ahuntsic are investigating a series of break-ins that they believe were committed by the same two men early Tuesday morning.

Police say at least three houses were broken into in a residential neighbourhood bordered by Henri-Bourassa Boulevard, Christophe-Colomb Avenue, Taché Street and Fleury Street.

In one incident, the men got in a fight with two occupants of a house they had broken into. The two occupants received light injuries in the scuffle.

One suspect was arrested around 2 a.m and the other remains at large and is the subject of an ongoing search by police.

Police say the two suspects are known to them.

Man shot downtown

In an unrelated incident, police are also looking for two suspects after a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm at the corner of Ste-Catherine Street and St-Dominique Street in downtown Montreal.

Police say the two suspects got in a fight with the victim around 10:30 p.m. Monday night.

"One suspect pulled out a gun and shot at least once toward the victim. The victim was struck to upper body and both suspect and victim left the scene," said police Const. Dany Richer.

All three fled the scene and the victim was later located in hospital.

Police say he is known to them and the incident was related to drug trafficking in the area.
