In a series of raids in Quebec's Eastern Townships, officers have arrested 23 people, some of whom are being linked by authorities to criminal biker gangs.

The raids were part of an operation aimed at a ring of drug traffickers in Quebec's Eastern Townships.

Starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, about 200 officers executed 20 search warrants in the region.

All those arrested are men, aged 19 to 52. Members of the group are facing criminal charges ranging from gangsterism, drug-trafficking and conspiracy to traffic in narcotic drugs and production of cannabis.

During the raids, officers seized about $30,000 in cash, electronic equipment, narcotics and 20 firearms.

The Sûreté du Québec reported that their investigation revealed a network that was controlling the sale of cocaine, meth and cannabis in the region, mainly in Magog.

Police are still searching for two suspects.

The SQ led the operation in conjunction with police from Bromont, Magog and Sherbrooke.

Agents with the RCMP also assisted the raids.
